Both pursuing international careers as soloists, Agnieszka Ufniarz and Matthieu Walendzik are united by a shared passion for chamber music and art song with piano. Drawing on their dual French-Polish heritage, their duo was born from the conviction that music knows no borders and that works reveal their fullest universality through dialogue between cultures.
They are particularly committed to bringing Polish repertoire to international stages, placing it in dialogue with the great European traditions. Their work gives special prominence to poetry and to the rediscovery of lesser-known or too rarely performed works.
Building in particular on Matthieu Walendzik’s academic background and musicological research, they explore libraries, heritage collections and historical sources in order to bring these works to life again on the concert stage.
Both artists are recipients of the title “Outstanding Pole in France,” awarded by the Polish Promotional Emblem Foundation “Teraz Polska” under the honorary patronage of the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to France, in recognition of their cultural achievements and their commitment to fostering dialogue between Poland and France.

Pianist
Polish-French pianist Agnieszka Ufniarz has performed at such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall in New York, Teatro Real and Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, Theatro Municipal in São Paulo, Musashino Shimin Concert Hall in Tokyo, and Salle Gaveau in Paris.
She studied under Tatiana Shebanova and Dmitri Bashkirov, two distinguished figures of the international piano world. A prizewinner of several international piano competitions, she received First Prize at the Dorothy MacKenzie Artist Recognition Award in New York and the Bärenreiter Verlag Prize at the European Young Concert Artists Auditions in Leipzig. She has also been a scholarship recipient of the French Government, the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the Verbier Festival & Academy, and the Albéniz Foundation.
In Poland, she has appeared at the Chopiniana Festival in Warsaw, the “Chopin in the Colours of Autumn” Festival in Antonin, and the Emanacje Festival, organised by the Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre for Music.
As a soloist, she has performed with the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra of Polish Radio, the Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra, the Warmia and Mazury Philharmonic Orchestra in Olsztyn, and the Orquestra Sinfônica Municipal de São Paulo, under the baton of conductors including Agnieszka Duczmal, José Maria Florêncio, Marek Pijarowski, Zygmunt Rychert, and Nabil Shehata. Her performances have been broadcast by Polish Radio, Polish Television, and Spanish Television. Her chamber music collaborations have included soprano Iwona Sobotka, baritone Tom Krause, bass Marek Gasztecki, and the Israel Philharmonic Quartet.
In 2025, she was named a laureate in the Culture category of the “Outstanding Pole in France” competition, held under the honorary patronage of the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to France.
MATTHIEU (MATEUSZ) WALENDZIK
Baryton
Praised for his “magnetic stage presence” and the “nobility of his vocal line,” French-Polish baritone Matthieu Walendzik has established himself as a distinctive voice among the new generation of opera singers. A graduate of the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP) and the Maîtrise Notre-Dame de Paris, he is equally at ease in repertoire ranging from early music to contemporary works.
An Artist in Residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, where he has worked with José van Dam, Stéphane Degout and Sophie Koch, he first came to wider attention as a laureate of the 10th edition of William Christie’s Jardin des Voix in 2021. He has since appeared at leading venues including the Philharmonie de Paris, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Paris Opera, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Teatro Real in Madrid and Carnegie Hall in New York.
Particularly acclaimed in the French repertoire, his recent roles include Marcello (La Bohème), Hermann and Schlémil (Les Contes d’Hoffmann) at the Opéra-Comique, Dancaïre (Carmen) at the Royal Opera of Versailles and the Edinburgh Festival, and La Vengeance (Médée) at the Opera Garnier. His repertoire also includes Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Marcello (La Bohème) and Falke (Die Fledermaus), and he has performed under conductors including William Christie, Louis Langrée, Hervé Niquet and David Stern.
A recipient of Second Prize at the Froville Competition and the Eurydice Prize at Les Maîtres du Chant, he was named “Young Personality of the Year” by the Polish Embassy in 2019, in recognition of his international career and his commitment to promoting Polish repertoire.
REPERTOIRE
Both artists explore extensive and diverse repertoires, spanning different periods and musical traditions, from the Baroque to contemporary music. Their joint projects reflect this artistic breadth, with a particular interest in the dialogue between Polish and French music. This artistic exchange finds expression both in the duo’s recital programmes and in concerts with orchestra, where the two traditions meet within a single, coherent programme concept.
